Julia Hartley-Brewer and Dr Ashok Kumar clash over the ongoing protests at London universities, with Kumar arguing that the demands for disclosure, divestment, and breaking direct links with institutions in Israel are legitimate forms of protest against the Israeli government's actions towards the Palestinian people.

Dr Kumar said that universities and numerous institutions in Britain were "complicit in the ongoing occupation and the genocide in Gaza".

Julia Hartley-Brewer was accused of thinking everyone was Hamas, to which she retorted, “I don’t take the words of murderous, raping, torturing terrorists as gospel”.

An encampment of around 40 tents has been pitched on a lawn outside King’s College in Cambridge on Tuesday in a protest against the war in Gaza.

Palestine flags were displayed on some of the tents and draped from an external wall of the college, along with sheets repurposed as banners displaying messages.

One of them read: “Cambridge Jews for justice in Palestine”, while another read “divest from genocide”.

Music played from speakers at the encampment, while a chalkboard beside a marquee set out a timetable for the day including a “rally and walk to deliver demands”.

Another A-board offered free hot meals, with hot drinks served from a nearby table.
