Svitlana Makhovska, along with a team of ethnologists, folklorists and anthropologists from the Center of Applied Anthropology NGO, is working on an oral history project about the experiences of residents of the encircled city of Chernihiv and the occupied villages of the Chernihiv region. Svitlana and her colleagues are interested not only in the lived realities of war but also the construction of historical memory. By the time of the recording, the team of the Center of Applied Anthropology has managed to obtain the testimonies of 107 people over the course of 6 expeditions.

In this video, Svitlana Makhovska talks about the importance of speaking out and giving weight to the micro-histories of people.
