During my time at the #StonyIslandArtsBank, I was inspired by both the objects and experiences in the media archive, and the communal, public events held in the space.

“Put It Down” explores freedom and duration, influenced by house DJ Frankie Knuckles’ vinyl collection housed at the Arts Bank - the electronic sounds I was experimenting with that were far different from my earlier music. The track speaks to a specific moment at the Arts bank - one of “throwing down” woes (literally, in a fire) and the freedom that sound had brought me. Through dance, cathartically, it was no longer my woe, my burden that had weighed me down.
