The Linzer Klangwolke is an open-air spectacle that has been taking place in the Donaupark in the Austrian city of Linz since the late 1970s. In 2023, the focus was on three fascinating performance ships, which provided the framework for the artistic storytelling of the piece “Odyssey. A Journey Trough Worlds” by the celebrated opera and theater director Francesca Zambello. The piece is a beatiful melange of acting performances, light and sound design plus breathtaking acrobatics.

Manfred Nikitser was responsible for the aesthetic lighting design of the extensive area at the Donaupark and on the three performance ships for the impressive Linzer Klangwolke 2023 production. For EventElevator, the lighting designer decodes technical aspects of the illumination. He explains in detail how he lights the ship choreographies so that sound, performance parts and the architecture of the city merge in a magical way.

The lighting designer uses a large number of the latest weatherproof fixtures in his arsenal. Highlights include ELATION Proteus Excalibur and Proteus Brutus. GLP X5 IP Bar, Fusion X-Par 12Z and GLP XDC1 IP Hybrid are also used. Over 70 Astera Tubes support the round stages on the music performance ship.
