Signal Hill National Historic site is one of the most popular and well-known landmarks in all of St. John's, Newfoundland.

As you make your way around the city, you'll be hard pressed to find a place were you can't see it. Situated at the top of a hill at the entrance to the St. John's harbour, this old fort and telegraph station has a long history.

As you tour Signal Hill, you will have a chance to see a handful of out buildings, in addition to a series of trails around the grounds. There are several parking lots for you to use, but most people will park by the visitor center and take the trail up to the top.

Inside the building you will find a gift shop at the base, and then information about the function of the building, it's history, and some great views of the harbour from on top.

In addition to visiting this National Historic site, we had a chance to take part in some of their programming - Defenders of the Narrows, where you can fire a musket and help protect the St. John's harbour from intruders!
