Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Variations in G k.455 on 'Unser dummer Pöbel meint' by Gluck.

This fortepiano was made by Johann Schantz in 1795 in Vienna and is exactly the style of instrument that Mozart and Haydn would have known well. This piano is celebrated for its clarity and beauty of tone and brings out the mercurial and quicksilver quality of Mozart's remarkable writing for the piano. In this variation set Mozart literally uses the whole range of the piano to create a masterwork of harmony and invention that takes you from the utter lyricism of the penultimate variation to the most brilliant finale.
