How do you read picture books to kids so they stay engaged from page one to the back cover?
Before you toss that picture book in the corner because kids won’t listen to a story, see if you are making these 10 mistakes. (All of which I have made.)
Kids are going to beg you to read to them after you find out how to fix the 10 mistakes you’re probably making when you read a picture book out loud to kids.

Reading to children daily is one of the best ways to help your child do better in school. It helps with visualization, understanding complex vocabulary and subject matter. It gives kids practice with comprehension without the added challenge of decoding. It develops persistence in staying with a task as well as seeing others point of view.
But, what do you do in your class when your kids just won’t sit still or become “bored” with the story? Is there something that you can do to activate their attention?
Reading to kids is a skill you can learn. During my 25 years of teaching I saw (and did) 10 mistakes that people make when they read aloud to kids.
