This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Lexus RX350h mid-size SUV. It’s the 5th generation RX and Lexus has the whole RX lineup here for us to review, the RX 350, 350h and the RX 500h F Sport Performance. Unfortunately, the RX plug-in will not be available until next year. Driving impressions, fuel economy and trim details for this all-new Lexus RX are embargoed until September 9th at 6am EST. We'll put out our full review then with all the details. Lexus has not announced pricing yet for any of the new RX models, that will come closer to the on-sale date. The all-new Lexus RX is wider and sits lower to the ground compared to the outgoing model. The wheelbase is longer by 2.4” inches but the overall length is about the same, the floating roof design carries over, 19” to 21” wheels are available and a temporary spare tire. All RX models have AWD. The RX 350h has a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid system matched to an ECVT, a combined 246 horsepower. RX 350 AWD is powered by a new 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. It has 20 less horsepower than the outgoing V6 but more torque almost 50 lb-ft extra.
The RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid which Lexus is being very quiet about, no details on the EV range or power. We can assume that it will have the same powertrain as the NX PHEV but possibly more power, we'll see. The NX PHEV gets 304 horsepower and 61km/37 miles of range. The RX 500h F-Sport Performance has a new hybrid electric system and is powered by a 2.4L turbo engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 367 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Standard DIRECT4 AWD system. The RX has an available, 14” touchscreen and all trims get the new Lexus interface multi-media system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto plus Lexus Safety System 3.0.
