WM’s yard in Ridgecrest remains an anomaly when compared to their fleet in the rest of the state, being that they still run an entirely diesel fleet. This includes a couple of these pre-emission 2003 Macks, a rarity when it comes to California. I’m still curious what their future fleet will look like here given Ridgecrest’s very isolated location in the far Northeast corner of Kern County.

In January of this year the City of Ridgecrest began residential organics collection to comply with SB1383. Due to the dramatically increased costs involved (and probably due to this yard’s extreme lack of resources) trash collection was cut back to biweekly and recycling remains biweekly as it has been. This was filmed on an off week for trash and recycling in this area, hence why only organics carts are out.
