Here is one of many, many ways to texture the back or front of a piece of jewelry to give it a uniform look. I do this on some pieces that I don't want to put a lot of polishing labor into, it saves me plenty of time to do other things. I use a 1.2mm ball bur in this example, but you can experiment with different sizes of burs.
