You should periodically check your ac drain line outside and make sure it has a steady stream like drip. If the drips of water appear too slow or none at all, then you have an ac drain clogged issue. Next the water from your air conditioner is supposed to drain out this pipe but instead backs up into the drain pan, then you have an ac dripping water all over the floor.

On more modern AC air handlers, that were installed correctly by the AC repair company, you will have a float switch. So a clogged AC drain line will cause you to have an AC float switch full of water, which will turn off your AC to prevent a flood.
