In this video, I look at the motorway/highway driving efficiency of the Hyundai Ioniq Electric. The Ioniq is one of the most efficient electric vehicles available. However EVs are less efficient at motorway speeds due to the wind resistance and no slowing down, so now regenerative braking to recoup energy back.
Today I had a trip to do which typically takes 3 hours and it's all on motorway and dual carriage ways. I had the climate control on and drove normally at the maximum speed the road allowed, yet I still managed to average 5.4 mpkWh! These Ioniqs are incredibly efficient EVs. At that average, the range from the 38kWh model is 205 miles. Of course, you're not limited to that range as you have DC rapid charging for a quick top up. But that is something that I almost never require.
