This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse mid-size SUV. This three-row crossover has room for up to 8-passengers. What’s new for 2022? The Traverse gets a freshened appearance with a new front fascia, grille and headlamp configuration with standard LED headlights. There’s a new LED taillight design, new roof rails and wheel designs. It also gets some new tech and interior updates including, standard wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an available 8” driver display and some new upholstery designs. Chevy Safety Assist is now standard on all trims and there are some new available safety features for 2022, rear pedestrian alert and safety alert seat. The Chevy Traverse has a 3.6L V6 engine with plenty of power and a 9-speed automatic transmission, 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada but FWD and AWD options are available in the US. The Chevrolet Traverse is a great SUV for families who need the extra space on a daily basis; it offers best in class cargo space at 92.8 cubic feet beating out its competition like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, which have 86.4 cubic feet. This family hauler comes standard with 8-passenger seating, a 7” touchscreen, 3.5” driver information display, an 8-way power drivers seat, manual passenger seat, cloth upholstery, key-less open and start, a manual liftgate, 18” wheels and a spare tire. Our Chevrolet Traverse RS test model in Cherry Red Tintcoat has black exterior accents, RS badging and 20” black wheels; it is the sportiest looking of all Traverse models. The red carries through to the interior with red stitching and the RS trim comes with a larger 8” touchscreen with navigation, a wireless charger, leather upholstery, dual panel sunroof, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, heated steering wheel, captain’s chairs and a power liftgate. Price as tested, $51,423 CAD.
