AstraZeneca Admits its Covid Vaccine Can Cause Rare Side Effect | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca has admitted for the first time that its Covid vaccine can cause rare side effects. It comes after the pharma giant faces a class-action lawsuit in the UK that alleges that its Covid vaccine, which was developed with the help of University of Oxford, has led to several deaths and serious injury. In the court documents, AstraZeneca said that its vaccine might lead to a rare blood clotting condition called TTS (Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome). This rare syndrome, which is characterised by blood clots (thrombosis) and low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), is also termed as VITT, which stands for 'vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia'. AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine was administered in India under the name, Covishield.
