Hundreds of pupils were locked down in their classrooms while anxious parents waited at the school gates at Amman Valley School in Carmarthenshire, Wales, on Wednesday.

Two air ambulances landed in the school grounds and there was a heavy police presence after emergency services were called just after 11.20am.

One of the members of staff was allegedly stabbed in the neck and was airlifted to the major trauma unit at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff 50 miles away.

The injuries suffered by the two teachers and the teenage pupil are not life-threatening, Dyfed-Powys Police said.
