This video demonstrates how a golfer should hold the golf club in their left hand (mirror image for lefties). The left hand should be wrapped on to the club evenly with the left thumb in a completely natural position. The heel of the left hand and the end of the left thumb should be in line with the club shaft. As the video explains, you shouldn't be able to see much of the 'butt' end of the club once you have the correct hold. Grip pressure should be quite light, but if you have the 'HOLD' of the club correctly, then you will feel that the grip pressure takes care of itself. Also, the correct hold of the club with your left hand will prevent your left arm from bending in your backswing. A poor left hand grip is the number 1 cause of the left arm bending in the backswing. When the 'HOLD' of the lead hand is correct it will also provide a much more solid and powerful feeling during impact, enabling the opportunity to release the club harder through the ball.
