Black blood small vessels

 Published On Dec 1, 2023

This video shows 3D rendering of small cerebral blood vessels on the order of a few hundred microns visualized and segmented on 3D high-resolution black blood MRI with isotropic 0.5mm resolution acquired at clinical magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla. Black blood contrast is caused by suppressing the blood signal, which is extremely useful to visualize the vessel wall or for the characterization of tissue adjacent to the blood pool. Compared to conventional bright-blood MR angiography (MRA), this new black blood MRI technique is more sensitive to small cerebral blood vessels.
