We knew that the resin in our Fleck water softener needed to be changed. It had been at least 5 years, probably 10. I didn't know exactly how much resin or media to buy, but the common size that is sold is 1 cubic foot (cu.ft). That turned out to be the correct amount.
The process wasn't too difficult. Disconnect everything. Dump out the old resin. Then repeat the process.

STEPS:

0:18 Turn off water to house/softener.
0:38 Disconnect water pipes.
1:05 Unplug water softener.
1:15 Disconnect 2 hoses.
1:35 Unscrew top control unit.
1:50 Separate dip tube.
2:08 CHECK - measure depth to resin.
2:42 Remove dip tube.
2:52 Empty tank.
4:17 Replace dip tube if cracked.
4:43 Reinstall & tape top of dip tube.
5:11 No Gravel

6:04 Refill resin, using "funnel".
7:37 Add food-safe lubricant to O-ring.
7:43 Remove tape.
8:36 Screw on top control unit.
8:56 Connect hoses and pipes.
9:11 Plug in the power cord.
9:25 Turn to bypass mode
9:33 Turn on water
10:10 Turn to Regen mode
10:42 Open water faucet
