Crystal meth – or ‘ice’ – is having a devastating impact on Australia.

But beyond the street dealer, most are unaware of the vast network of faceless figures profiting from the drug’s misery.

Reporter Mahmood Fazal gets rare access to people at key points in the meth supply chain: dealer, cook, enforcers, traffickers, and runners.

He travels from the streets of Melbourne to a major source of production in South-East Asia, and identifies an Australian man suspected of being a major importer of meth into the country.

This episode was originally broadcast as ‘Meth Highway’ on 22 April 2024 on ABC TV and ABC iview.
