We painted our pop-up camper, and it wasn't as hard as you might think. Just a heat gun, scraper, and a willingness to put in the time is all you need.
The paint and primer were both latex, so clean up was easy. And we used a product called "Morlite" to seal up the external fixtures such as the lights and vent covers.
A pressure washer was also essential. We used a few different nozzles to take off any residual decals, and found it very effective in prepping the camper for paint.
