This video shows you how to activate a radon ready new home. Many new homebuilders in the US are "pre-plumbing" radon systems. Radon-ready DOES NOT mean radon free, it simply means that a pathway has been created during construction and a simple radon fan install can mitigate the entire home (sometimes called a "passive system", adding a fan "activates" it). This home, built radon ready, had a radon level of 13.9 pci/L--over THREE TIMES the EPA action level (the equivalent of OVER 400 chest X-rays in radiation exposure each year for every occupant).

Luckily, our friends are educated and had their home tested at purchase, then called us. Here we find this builder did an okay job, but missed quite a few things that had to be buttoned up before we could activate. We fixed their crawlspace soil depressurization radon system and installed a fan and U tube manometer. Watch the full video to see our results!

The best way to build radon ready and be IRC appendix F compliant is to use PDS' soil gas vapor mat for radon! Visit www.RadonMat.com for free system design.
