Since having Harper and later adding Jaxon, DJ and I have to be very intentional in our marriage. With my background in family and marriage counseling, I knew this would be an area of importance, but experiencing this season of life (especially while overseas) has given me an even greater understanding of how an intentional marriage after kids is crucial. I personally hate the idea and societal norm that marriage is hard. It does require intentionality, energy, and being proactive, but I don't see marriage as work.
