Buick's first-ever Envista compact crossover isn't just sleek, comfortable, and tech-savvy. It's a screaming deal to boot.

Based loosely on the Chevy Trax, the 2024 Envista starts at $23,500 WITH destination…and the loaded ST model we tested is a cool $29,000. But there are some tradeoffs for that budget pricing…what are they and do we still think this Envista is worth your time? Let’s go spend a week with one and find out.

There are three trims available: Preferred is the base, then the Sport Touring that we’ve got here, and at the top is the Avenir.

Our Sport Touring tester has optional 19” alloy wheels, this copper ice metallic paint ($500), and a power tailgate (as part of the $600 convenience 2 package).

Because it's based on the Trax, it shares that model's width and wheelbase, though this Envista is about four inches longer overall, putting it a little longer than Toyota’s RAV4 but a little shorter than Honda’s CR-V, for comparison.

All Envista models come with a single powertrain: a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 136 hp and 162 pound-feet of torque. That’s paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive only; all-wheel-drive isn’t even offered as an option. This setup is rated by the EPA at 28/32/30 MPG.

Inside, all Envista models have a massive 11” touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus Bluetooth connectivity for two devices at the same time. All models also have an 8-inch digital instrument panel.

Our Sport Touring model also has a couple of option packages. We have the convenience 1 which is $1200. For that you get a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, keyless entry. We also have a $1000 package that adds the alloy wheels I showed you earlier and this moonroof.

In terms of safety, all Envistas come standard with what’s called Buick Driver Confidence…this package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning, and forward collision alerts. Our tester has the optional Advanced safety package, which for $600 adds adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

So how does all this stack up? Check out our full video to find out.
