University of California Political Science Professor Louis DeSipio says the passing of a “necessary” foreign aid bill in the US was a “tribute to bipartisan efforts”.

The US has passed a foreign aid package worth $US95 billion.

It will benefit Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel.

“This was a tribute to bipartisan efforts on the part of Speaker Johnson, Majority Leader Schumer, the White House, to bring together a coalition of moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans … to pass legislation that has been necessary for many, many months,” Mr DeSipio told Sky News Australia.

“The White House was prepared to act immediately in getting weapons to Ukraine.”
