Another weekly dose of your catastrophic engine forensics! Every week you can find a new teardown of some abused, misused and/or poorly designed engine. I've got over 150 videos of failed engine teardowns on this channel.
Today we have a BMW N26 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine on the stand. This is essentially the same as the more common N20, with. just some different external parts like injectors. This particular engine is either a returned as defective or core return from a salvage yard. Between the loose parts, multiple heat tabs and other less than normal findings I am inclined to believe this engine has been in several different vehicles and worked on by multiple people.
These core engines always tell a story and its not usually a good one. Lets tear this one down and try to figure out what happened.
Why am I doing this? I own and run a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area called Importapart. Part of our model includes dismantling core and blown engines to salvage the good usable parts from and resell. We do not rebuild engines, merely sell parts to those who do.

I hope you enjoyed this video and as always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.

Catch you all on the next one!
-Eric
