This was the longest distance of this stage of my cycle tour at about 85km but also probably the one with the most hills, in particular the steep ones of the Copper coast.

The initial leaving Youghal bit isn’t much fun as your on the N25 for the only crossing over the Blackwater along with every other vehicle needing to cross. That put of the way my route rapidly left the N25 on a local road that climbs the steep northern bank - a network of such roads got me to #Ardmore with little traffic except agricultural machinery on its way to and from fields. The round tower photo is Ardmore from here it’s more local roads near the coast to #Ring where I stopped for a pint & sandwich.

It’s then down to Dungarvan where thankfully there are two bridges the quieter of which gets you onto the Greenway that runs to Waterford. I took the first 6km of that leaving it as it turns inland as my route was the long way around via the hills of the Copper coast. These are steep & plentiful but the reward is the beauty. It’s worth diverting to at least sone of the coves even though each requires a steep ascent back to the road again. The Copper Coast is another area that was an economic powerhouse in the past but today is quiet farmland & light tourism.
