Employers tend to prefer that you craft detailed, thoughtful answers to their questions. Rather than answer immediately, take a minute to develop an appropriate response. This ensures that you're able to answer the question to the best of your knowledge. Before your interview, practice your answers several times to increase your confidence and become more prepared to respond naturally. Employers recognize that candidates have weaknesses, so be honest about your own. Discuss your unique abilities and skill set and try to keep the tone of the interview positive and productive.

Demonstrate confidence: When you answer questions concisely, you demonstrate confidence in your abilities to perform job tasks effectively and meet the employer's expectations for the role.

The obvious answer is that you shouldn't lie during your interview, for many reasons. On top of it being unethical, doing so can and will eventually catch up to you. After all, when you lie, you have no actual memories to fall back on.

When focusing on the position, you should start by pointing out how your experience aligns with the job description, and how it will help you excel at this role. Talk about what you have done in previous jobs that make you a great fit for this position, and why you must be a part of this team.

Learn how to be concise and confident, plan ahead and practice your responses, be honest about your reasons for the gap, emphasize your new skills or achievements, and focus on your interest in the new position.
