My pickup truck, a 2007 Chevy Silverado, has rust on the fenders and tailgate. I repair the rust damage following these steps: grinding it off with a sanding disk and wire brush; rebuilding a hole with wire mesh; using a rust converter where appropriate; applying body filler/bondo; sanding the bondo smooth; and, applying primer, paint and clear coat.
Video 1: removing/grinding away the rust; applying the rust converter; rebuilding a hole with wire mesh, applying the first layer of bondo.
Video 2: completing the bondo process (fibreglass bondo, regular bondo, and bondo putty), sanding multiple times with 80 to 300 grit, and a final layer of wire mesh.
Video 3: taping off the areas for priming and painting, wet sanding, and buffing.
