However, Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey data reveal that some new car buyers will need to return to the dealer's service department more frequently than others. To determine the reliability of various car models, CR examines 17 potential problem areas, such as the engine, transmission, and brakes, and assigns a predicted reliability score based on the severity of each issue.
