Welcome to The Pace Report reporting live from the 13th Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival Presented by Citizens

Kicking off this year's Taste of Jazz festivities at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in Downtown Pittsburgh was drummer and composer Jonathan Barber and his group Vision Ahead.

Jonathan was voted # 1 up-and-coming drummer by Modern Drummer Magazine. He is an alum of the Artist Collective and was mentored by the late Rene McClean. He also attended the Harry School of Music at the University of Hartford where he was mentored by trombonist Steve Davis and bassist Nat Reeves. Over the years he's recorded and toured with Pat Metheny, Buster Williams, Wallace Roney, Stefon Harris, Jeremy Pelt, Harold Mabern, and R&B vocalist Erykah Badu.
