In a post-HSV Maloo GTSR world, the 2022 RAM 1500 TRX stands head and shoulders above any formerly homegrown ute, any imported dual-cab 4x4 one-tonner and indeed any locally converted full-size American pick-up.

Take for example its 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that delivers phenomenal outputs of 523kW and 882Nm, which is enough to hurl this six-metre long, three-tonne off-roader to 100km/h in about 4.5 seconds – on dirt!

Equally astounding but less palatable is average fuel consumption of almost 20L/100km and a pricetag of around $200,000, meaning the world’s baddest pick-up isn’t for everyone.
