Chief Patrick Michell has lived in the Fraser Canyon all of his life and has worked with his community since 1978 to design and complete projects that re-establish community foundational and sustainable stability in air, water, food, and shelter with supporting resilient systems like energy, communications, transportation, and waste; for the environment and economy of today and more importantly – for tomorrow. He graduated from UBC’s law program in 1992 and practiced law in Lytton from 1997 to 2005 when he transitioned into community roles first as Liaison and the Economic Development and Lands Management until becoming Chief in May of 2015. In 2018, Chief Patrick was honored with a Clean Energy BC lifetime achievement award for his work in renewable energy project design, permitting, development and operations, and in 2021 Chief Patrick was honored with a Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on climate change awareness and action.
