This ship is 780 feet of American steel made to support our Expeditionary Forces as a Sea Base for rotary aircraft (ESB 6). The commissioning was very impressive with the Secretary of the Navy giving the keynote speech on how this ship will function. It was made here in San Diego at NASSCO and launched May, 2022. Until it's commissioning today it was designated as a USNS ship but today it became the USS John L. Canley. He was a Marine Sargent Major and earned the Medal of Honor at Hue, Vietnam in 1968 during the Tet Offensive.. When the word was given, all sailors ran aboard the ship and took their positions, the boilers were activated, cranes were moving even the windshield wipers were in action. The USS John L. Canley is now a US Navy Warship! VF
