Last year, as a part of the 2022 iteration of Tanfis (remix-culture.org/tanfis-2022), we joined Layale Chaker and Sam Minaie at the charming, intimate Brooklyn music venue "The Owl," as the two laid down a collaboration indebted to their respective Lebanese and Iranian roots. In just a short session recorded by Tyler Wood and Hatim Belyamani, we were mesmerized by the perfect synthesis of Layale’s rich voice and violin and Sam’s deep, droning bass.

Now we bring it all to you: a single available on Bandcamp, the music video, footage of HAT ’s live remix of the track at last year’s Tanfis event, and complete sample packs of both video and audio designed for remixing. Also available is the complete footage of last year’s event featuring live performance by Layale.

We invite you, our community, to explore the entire release, its visual and auditory pleasures, and the profound connection to past and present embedded within Layale and Sam’s work by listening, viewing, and remixing.
