2545, Earth Standard Era. The USV Cotopaxi, a retro-fitted Stellar Union battlecruiser, brings a military science team to the uncharted Cygni Epsilon in anticipation of a colonization expansion. They find the system already inhabited by a previously unknown alien civilization on par with the human civilization- the Madalgan Ascendancy. Caught off guard, the natives of the system rally to defend Madalga, triggering a conflict greater than either side has seen in their history, and changing the lives of the individuals on the front lines forever.
