In this recorded discussion, Orthogeriatrician Professor Celia Gregson and physiotherapist Dr Katie Sheehan describe hip fracture, the links with osteoporosis, what to expect, common experiences, important aspects of care and recovery. Questions submitted by ROS members and other common queries will be discussed in a Q&A after two short presentations by the speakers.

Professor Celia Gregson
Celia Gregson is a Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the Musculoskeletal Research Unit, University of Bristol and an Honorary Consultant Orthogeriatrician at the Royal United Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Bath in the UK. Her research spans the epidemiology of fractures, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and sarcopenia, including in sub-Saharan Africa, health service research particularly in relation to hip fracture care and the genetic epidemiology of extremes of bone density. She chairs the National Osteoporosis Guideline Group in the UK and sits on the Royal College of Physicians Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme Scientific and Publications Committee. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, and a Senior Scientist at The Health Research Unit Zimbabwe.

Dr Katie Sheehan
Dr Katie Sheehan is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, Senior Lecturer at King's College London, and Chartered Physiotherapist. Her research focuses on improving the care people get after they have broken their hip so they recover quickly and get back to a good quality of life. She chairs the Hip Fracture Recovery Research Special Interest Group of the Global Fragility Fracture Network and the Royal College of Physicians Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme Scientific and Publications Committee. She is a Fellow of the UK Young Academy and the Young Academy of Europe.
