SOUND ON-INTERVIEW OF KAIONA'S PARENTS AT THE END...I was finally able to deliver these stairs to Kianoa and his family. I've worked on a lot of projects so far in my life and this project was the most special for me. I'm so thankful to have met Kianoa and his parents Brandi and Pat. They are unbelievable parents to Kainoa and have so much strength, patience and determination and are wonderful people. .
The delivery couldn't have gone any better. Kianoa has never gone up or down stairs standing up or unassisted, so this was a huge milestone for him and allowed him to start gaining some more independence and confidence. .
This project started when my best friend @taylormadeconstruction tagged me in a local Facebook post. A young boy's mom (Brandi) explained that her 3 year old was born very premature and had a stroke which caused both physical and neurological issues. He's clumsy and has loss of vision resulting to tunnel vision and wanted some help creating some independence for her son. These are the stairs that I've been designing. They are specific to his height and the space within their house. There's a sliding gate at the top that his parents will raise and lower for him which will keep him from falling backwards. Thanks to @taylormadeconstruction for making this possible and buying all the materials. This project has really inspired me and I'd love to help other people in need in the future. .
