China has been gradually surpassing South Korea in cutting-edge industries, putting tremendous pressure on South Korean companies. Competition between China and South Korea in the global automotive market, particularly in semiconductors, automobiles, appliances, and electronics, is intensifying. China's technological level has gradually surpassed South Korea's, bringing immense pressure to South Korean enterprises.

Is this true? Dear audience! Welcome back to our channel! I am delighted to share and discuss today's topics with the audience: 1. How will South Korean companies adjust their strategies to maintain a competitive edge? 2. What impact will China's rapid technological development have on the global technological landscape? 3. How to balance the pressure of technological innovation and international competition?

In today's rapidly changing technological era, competition between China and South Korea in the global automotive market, semiconductors, automobiles, appliances, and electronics is intensifying. According to the report from Singapore's "Straits Times" website on April 22, the competitive landscape of the global automotive market is changing, and the export competition between South Korea and China is becoming particularly evident. With the rapid development of China's automotive industry, especially in the field of electric vehicles and new energy vehicles, China has not only achieved remarkable success in the domestic market but also demonstrated strong competitiveness in the international market. This trend poses a significant challenge to South Korea, which has long relied on automotive exports as a key economic pillar.

The Korea International Trade Association pointed out in its analysis on April 22 that the competition between South Korea and China in several cutting-edge industries is becoming increasingly fierce. These areas include semiconductors, automobiles, appliances, and electronics, all of which are traditionally strong fields for South Korea. However, China's development speed in these areas has brought unprecedented pressure to South Korean enterprises. With China's technological progress and expanding market share in these high-end industries, South Korean companies have to face a more intense international competitive environment.

Specifically, the Export Similarity Index (ESI) between South Korea and China in the semiconductor industry has shown the intensification of this competition. The ESI is an indicator that measures the degree of similarity in the export product structures of two countries. Its value ranges from 0 to 1, with a value closer to 1 indicating that the export products of the two countries are more similar, and thus the competition is fiercer. According to data from the Korea International Trade Association, from January to August 2023, the ESI between South Korea and China in the semiconductor industry reached 0.677, an increase from 0.669 in 2018.
