“The Overview Effect” is a cognitive shift experienced by astronauts after seeing the Earth from space. Physical borders and national boundaries cannot be seen, and evidence of division and separateness vanishes. The conflicts that divide us become less important, and usher the need to create a peaceful and united planetary society to protect the fragile Earth.
