Invader Zim was such a different show. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it was a sore pink thumb in comparison to everything else Nickelodeon was airing at the time. They wanted to capture that same edgy comedy that was seen in Ren & Stimpy, but in a way that appealed to a new age of kids... And BOY did they get what they asked for. This show got incredibly dark. However, possibly the darkest era in the shows history wouldn't come until years after it would be cancelled.
