The Democrats have “abandoned” the working class, says Newsweek Deputy Opinion Editor Batya Ungar-Sargon.

“The Democrats used to be the party of labour,” Ms Ungar-Sargon told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

She said the left used to be “on the side of workers”.

“That’s why they used to, for example, oppose immigration because mass migration lowers the wages of working-class people by increasing the supply of workers.

“As a result, the Democrats used to believe in having a strong border.”
