This is not your fault. Most companies don’t invest in their people like our apprenticeship program. We provide free training. With on-the-job experience and training, you’ll make more money.

Apprentices all start out at the same wage. As you gain experience on the job and learn new skills through training, your wages will go up and benefits will get better too. For every 1000 hours on the job, and every 75 hours of related training, you move up to the next level. You’ll get a 10% raise!

Apprentices are currently starting at 70% of the journey scale. When you get to 4000 hours of OJT and 300 hours of related training, you become a journeyworker and get the pay that comes with it.

The program takes about two years to complete. You’ll have to complete 4000 hours on the job and 300 hours of related training.

If you worked 40 hours a week for two years and spent another 7-8 weeks of training, that would take two years and two months. But each apprentice’s experience is a little bit different and so the time it takes any apprentice will vary. There will be layoffs. Sometimes there will be overtime.

Also, you can request credit for your previous work experience and training. Tell us about your previous employers, describe your work experience with them, and give us proof of that experience. We evaluate these requests and grant credit for them. Getting credit for previous experience shortens your time in the program and gets you more money sooner.

The training and experience you get as an apprentice will determine the work you get as a journeyworker. The more skills you have, the more you’ll work and make money.
