Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara started as a ‘regional film’ with a traditionally rooted story that focused on the strife between forest dwellers and government officials on the encroachment of forest reserves, gradually snowballed into a ‘Pan-Indian’ phenomenon that presented a local story with a universal appeal and larger-than-life aesthetic grandeur.
