Tesla continues to see demand that far exceeds its production capacity. What is a company to do when demand continues to increase but output does not keep up? Well, they increase prices.

This will be the 3rd price change of 2022, which is likely to be a year of further price increases. This time, 2 Tesla Model 3 Trims will be impacted. This is another increase in prices for the Model 3's, but the Tesla Model Y was not impacted this time.

Another update seen is lead time from order. When ordering a Tesla Model Y or Model 3, adding an option to your build will improve lead-time. However, if you add FSD, it previously would improve your lead time. Now, following strong criticism, Tesla appears to have reversed that decision. Adding FSD no longer has an impact on lead time when ordering.

Either way, after hearing the Tesla Q4 earnings results shows Tesla continues to rapidly expand margin. Tesla is setting the stage to ensure that margin expansion continues regardless of fluctuating input costs.

Not great news, but I would not expect to see this slow down anytime soon until demand starts to wane, or production starts to increase faster than demand.
