If you're like me you've been intently following the current protests in Iran, hearing about what's actually happening and how it threatens to topple the regime of the Islamic Republic. But if you're like me you've also been wondering: "How did it come to this?". Well this video intends at dissecting that exact question, looking at how Iran's 20th century history set it up for turmoil, but also how it planted the seeds of progressiveness.

We take a look at the policies of Iranian Shah's and how they created a bipolar society simultaneously engaged with progressive reform and entrenched in Islamic conservatism, and how this created an unstable and reactionary social milieu where progressiveness was introduced, but never really took root.
