IMPORTANT: FOR NEWER UNITY VERSIONS (2022 AND UP):
In newer Unity version the Sequencer, Cinemachine and the Timeline are included by default; you will only need to download the Recorder package. To get the Sequencer game object, right click in the Assets window (as if you wanted to make a new script or folder), look for the Timeline option. It will have 2 sub-options, Timeline and Signal. Select Timeline. This will create a new Timeline asset. Drag and drop this asset into the Hierarcy. It will create a new gameobject that contains the Playable Director component that will have a reference to your timeline asset. Now you can follow the video as normal :)

In this video I explain the very basics of making a cinematic in Unity using the timeline, cinemachine, and the recorder.
