The period the band moved towards their most hard rocking period with "Beyond Appearances", widely represented in the setlist. Greg Walker and Alex Ligertwood share the vocals.
Between March and July, they recorded the album and toured over Europe with Bob Dylan featuring David Sancious on keyboards and Chester Cortez Thompson on drums. After that tour, Graham Lear returned and Chester Thompson remained the only keyboardist until the third comeback of Tom Coster in 1986.
