Botswana Rejects UK’s Proposal to Take “Unwanted Immigrants”| Firstpost America

Botswana’s Foreign Minister Lemogang Kwape disclosed in a media interview that his country was approached by the UK to take some of what he called their “unwanted immigrants” but declined the request. Kwape said that his decision was influenced by Botswana’s own immigration challenges. While he did not specify when he was approached by Britain, his comments came as the UK parliament passed the contentious Rwanda Deportation Bill. This comes as reports said that the UK was in talks with many other African nations to replicate the Rwanda migrant deportation scheme and that countries like Morocco, Tunisia, Namibia and The Gambia “explicitly declined” to enter technical discussions with Britain.
