I've been running the Traeger Timberline XL for over a year and it hasn't let me down once. The upgraded Timberline XL pellet grill feels sturdy and offers several cool newly added features.

When it comes to pellet grills, a controller is the first thing everyone talks about. The Timberline XL has the newly designed D2 Direct Drive WiFire PID full-color touchscreen controller. The temperature can be adjusted in 5-degree increments, plus this pit comes with super smoke and keep warm modes. You can also utilize the mobile app, which is extremely user-friendly and features a variety of recipes.

With 289 lbs, the Traeger Timberline XL is a pretty heavy grill and can boast a whopping 1320 square inches of cooking space. A double-walled cooking chamber and a gasket prevent the smoke from escaping, so I'm truly impressed by how this pit holds the smoke.

Timberline XL offers one feature that I was surprised I would use that often and it's the induction plate. Forget running to the kitchen to heat up your sauce, as you can now do it all in one place. As for the storage, Traeger Timberline XL offers a large cabinet plus two removable side shelves underneath the hopper.

The hopper holds 22 lbs of pellets which is enough for an overnight cook. And the low fuel sensor will remind you when it's time for a refill. The top of the hopper lid has a removable cutting board. While I haven't had to use it, I do believe that this is a nice little feature in case you ever need more space.

The Pop-And-Lock system is a Traeger's special feature. It is a railing system that allows you to hang things like a spice rack, tool hooks, or a paper towel holder. But my personal favorite Traeger accessories are the removable front shelf and the grill cover.

Over the year, I've cooked a variety of meals on this pit: pork butts, chicken, pork ribs, grilled shrimp, you name it and every time I was pleased with fabulous results. I like how everything finishes at the same time, even when I smoke large amounts of meat.

My overall opinion of the Traeger Timberline XL is definitely positive, but this pit might not be for everyone. Timberline XL is made for a large family or someone who loves cooking for a big company. With a large cooking space, extra storage, and the induction plate, this pit got it all.
