Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack and slash video game, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. The game tells the story of a cheerleader who must fight a zombie invasion in a fictional school in California. It was released on June 14, 2012 in Japan, June 12, 2012 in North America, and June 15, 2012 in Europe.

Lollipop Chainsaw's plot centers on Juliet Starling, a cheerleader at the fictional San Romero High School in California. She carries on her waist the live head of her boyfriend Nick hers, whom she herself beheaded with a chainsaw to prevent the zombie virus from spreading through her body after being bitten by one of them. .

The game is cataloged within the hack and slash genre, very much in the style of the video game saga No More Heroes, also by the same developer.

Juliet Starling: (voiced by Tara Strong) She is the protagonist of the game, aged 18. She is a cheerleader from the San Romero institute who, secretly, is a zombie hunter. She has a huge crush on her boyfriend Nick and is always seen eating lollipops. Although she sometimes seems like the typical silly blonde, she is much smarter than she appears; apart from being more kind and dedicated to others.

Nick Carlyle: (voiced by Michael Rosenbaum) He's Juliet's boyfriend. Juliet beheads him after being bitten by a zombie to prevent him from becoming one of them. Since then he has been hanging on the hip of his girlfriend. He thinks Juliet treats him like an object rather than a boyfriend, but he loves Juliet and would do anything to help her.

Cordelia Starling: (voiced by Linda Cardellini) She is Juliet's older sister, in her 20s. She is very mature and is always armed with a rifle. She really likes quesadillas and guns, and she hates the color blue and sea monsters.

Rosalind Starling: She is Juliet's little sister, 16 years old. She is a hyperactive girl who just got her driver's license, even though she is lousy at it. She likes to collect skulls.

Gideon Starling: He's Juliet's father. He is very strong physically and very overprotective with his daughters. Although he distrusts Nick a little, he actually likes him, which Juliet realizes. He cries every time a dog dies on television.

Elizabeth Starling: She is Juliet's mother. She normally only appears calling Juliet for anything, although she will be a key point in the two endings that the game has.

Junji Morikawa: Nicknamed "Sensei", he is Juliet's teacher. He is an expert zombie hunter for 45 years. He likes the kamasutra and collecting girl's underwear.

Swan: (voiced by Sean Gunn) He is the main villain of the game and responsible for the appearance of the zombies. He was an outcast in high school and everyone was picking on him. That, along with his unrequited love for Juliet, makes him go insane and claim revenge by resurrecting the Dark Enforcers and the zombie from among the zombies: Killabilly.

Zed: (voiced by Jimmy Urine) A punk zombie and the first boss of the game. He likes to mistreat small animals and carries a guitar and speakers.

Vikke: He is a Viking zombie and the second boss of the game. He is accompanied by a bear head named Yumil.

Mariska: she is a hippie zombie and the third boss of the game. She is accompanied by an instrument and can multiply.

Josey James: He is a funk zombie and the fourth boss of the game. He speaks with Auto-Tune voice and carries a keyboard with him.

Lewis Legend: He is a rocker zombie and the fifth boss of the game. He is accompanied by his submachine gun guitar and is always riding his motorcycle.

Killabilly: He is the maximum zombie and the final boss of the game. He is resurrected thanks to the sacrifice of the five Dark Enforcers.
